Yeah for Conference

Hey Mom,
Happy Birthday!!! That came pretty quick. Don't let dad shove cake in your face or anything like that, just do like the kids did and do it yourself haha. Yeah we are really excited for conference because that means it is a 3 day weekend for us of just watching the Prophets. And on Saturday between sessions we have a Baptism, his name is Nick, he is 9 years old, they are a less active family that we are trying to re-activate. He wanted to be baptized and last time i checked he wants me to Baptize him. So that will be cool i have not baptized anyone myself. He is a pretty cool cat!
We have so much fun when we eat at members houses! We laugh with them, i make fun of them. They like us a lot. And we eat a lot at their houses, i am not to excited about gaining weight, there is so much food here. So here is a story, Friday night we had dinner at a members home, then at 830 we decided we were hungry and that we needed to eat at ihop, so we went and we ate and felt like crap after as usual. The next day we did service at the Bartlett's home, they are the coolest older couple ever, we put some tint stuff in their window so no one could see through it at night. They took us to eat at Pita Pit, then later that night we went and got milkshakes cause we were bored. Well all day Saturday i didnt feel good at all, i was dizzy and my stomach hurt (It couldn't have been from all the crap we had eaten) so we came in early cause i was sick. That night at one in the morning i got up and threw up a few times! So this weekend i have been sick. I am still trying to get over it today.
On Saturday we were riding the bus and i sat kind of up front while Elder Clason sat in the back. A big huge guy sat across the row from me, He had to play for Ole Miss i thought to myself. I got the impression to start talking to him. At first i was like NO WAY! This huge black guy does not want to hear about what i have to say. But i got the impression again, so i manned up and i asked him "How are ya doin'?" and he gave the answer that you do not want to hear, "Fine." I was like... dang where do i go from there?? So i asked him if he was going to school, what he was doing there, and such. He started to open up a little more. Then i got down to the knitty griddy! I shot the question, "Do you go to church around here? " he said yeah and we started to talk. He asked what Book we believe in and i told him and he seemed interested! So i asked him if we could stop by his place and share a message with him, he said yes and we exchanged info. It was sweet! if i hadn't listened to the spirit on talking to this huge black guy, idk i probably would have got struck down! haha.

So transfers are after conference, and we are pretty sure that Elder Clason is leaving and that i am staying in Oxford and taking over the area with another missionary, But we will see what happens.

Love everyone, happy birthday mom:) love you -Elder Nielson

Raining LITERALLY all day

Hey Mommy,
Oxford is doing great, i love it here, it is the best area. Um transfers is after general conference. I am not sure if i am getting transfered they dont tell you till the day before. I am pretty sure that i will be staying here and elder clason will go somewhere else cause he has been in oxford for 9 months. So i am hoping that i will stay here!
Haha i miss the babies so much ( i guess they arent babies anymore really) but i miss them. Bubba and Brynlee look from the pictures like they are changing so much already. I dont like it i want them to stay small so i can throw them around and play with them! i guess i will have to wait till i have my own kids haha.
Yeah i got the package this week, yeah my companion and i loved it we ate it all in 2 days so that is saying something.
So this week was a slow week, all of our new found investigators didnt answer the door so we had a pretty annoying week. This week has been pretty hott till friday, friday was awesome! It rained LITERALLY all day and night. And we didnt have the car this week so we were stuck walking about 5-8 miles that day to our appointments. We were soooo soaked. But i looked at it this way... at least im not hott and sweaty, im just wet, and when its warm and raining, you cant tell what is water on you and what is sweat so it just doesnt matter haha! That whole day no one answered the door, no one wanted to talk to us cause of the weather. So around 730 or 8 we were sick of it so we went home and decided we were going to run out our frustration in the rain. We went for a run around town while it was pouring rain. It was crazy. In oxford they have to have like thousands of canals and ditches to direct the water out of the town and off the streets because the rain storms down here are like nothing else anywhere. They are intense! so what we did was walk through a ditch with water up to about our shins and just were trying to have a fun time. It was sweet! Running in the rain and splashing in the puddles was cool. It is crazy the things you have to do to have fun as a missionary, it really differs from being home. That running would not be fun while i was at home but since i am on my mission it is fun... weird. So that is that for the week, hope things are going well. Tell Bubba and Brynlee Hi! miss them, and i miss everyone, all my friends and family. Thanks for all the support. love Elder Nielson.

Spiritual Harvest

Hey mom,
No time is going by pretty slow here too. I dont think i have recieved a package from walmart. The last package i got had the cd's in it and candy. Um things are going good we have 3 people with Baptismal dates, and we are hoping they stay with it. Yeah we usually track(spiritual harvest) everyday. No we arent on facebook yet but maybe soon idk. Ya i am doing pretty good on my own, i just throw meals together, through clothes in the wash and hope they get clean haha. But all is going pretty good in that area. It is finally cooling down a little bit here i am hoping that fall is around the corner. We took our matresses out in the living room and slept out there with the sliding door open cause it felt so good outside.

All of my clothes are good! my khackis are sweet! they are nice and something different to wear. I might need a jacket when it cools down in the winter so i will start looking.

Krystle was baptized by her husband, he is a less active and she wasnt a member, we taught her, she loved it and she was baptized. Now they are active and doing well. She loves us so much, she spoils us with food!
Ill try to write a letter to the primary.
You gotta love mississippi!

Love Jesus. Thanks for all you do for me Mom and Dad! i love you. Thanks for raising me up so good like you did, you guys taught me a lot.
 -Love Elder Nielson

Best Missionary Day Ever

Hey ya'all from the south, where it was the hottest week ever! Dang gina! it was so hott! It hit 103 and then add the humidity. Lets just say it was so hot that even black people weren't outside! Black people are always outside on their porch doing nothing all day unless it is blazing hot, or raining, cause down here black people melt in the rain. They ain't got no business out in the rain. So this week we did a ton of walking cause the sisters have our car, then we got it back yesterday and found out that it didnt start and that it turned out to be a bad alternator. It is a flippin 2012 ford fusion... So basically Ford stink. It can't last a year. But we blamed it on the sisters haha cause they already drove it into a ditch! Flip! Yes mom i loved the package! the Lacrae Cd is awesome! and the books. So i was thinking... do you know the recorder that Dr. Larson had at the drs office? the grey recorder, a missionary has one down here and he puts his music on there and it play, and it also records things! so i could record some of my diaries, or record lessons it would be sweet! so im thinking i might buy one today? let me know if that would be alright soon??

So this was Saturdays schedule... (Best missionary day ever)... So we woke up at 6:00 hit up the gym, pumping some iron, and getting huge, no big deal. Then we studied from 8:00 until about 10:30. at that time we had to head over to the church to start the water in the baptisimal font. We chilled there, played basketball, burnt ants with a microscope, you know the usual missionary fun. The baptism started at 1. Me and Elder Clason both had to speak at the baptism, that went pretty good, the ward loves us. The baptism was over at 2. Then we went and tried to see an investigator but this guy didnt show up to the appointment. Then at 3 we had dinner at Bro. Rosemans house, he is the guy that sent you the pic at the game, they are the ones that took us. We then went through the grove... bad mistake, if you ever get a chance to look up pictures of the grove youll know what i mean, SO SO many people. We as missionaries pretty much had to close our eyes while we walked cause there were so many skanky girls around there. Lets just say they have a unique style down here. Game days its short skirts, and school its short shorts with a huge t-shirt so they look like they arent wearing any pants! its so stupid. Then the game was at 6. Ole miss won 31-14, with their 3rd string in. SEMO was not a very good team at all. They played like high schoolers. But there were a bunch of drunks, the student section all left at half time to go and party so that is what Ole Miss is famous for...no pants and partying. So yeah it was a pretty sweet day!

Also ive kinda realized that i changed my style on ties. I like what are called narrow ties. They are not skinny and not normal they are like in between. They are 2 inches across. I also like just like a classy stripe or patterns, ive grown up a little on the flashy ties and things. But i havent completely grown up.
So let me know if it is alright if i buy that recorder i think it will be sweet! and very useful! then i can just download music like lacrae and do it that way. But yeah. Thanks for everything this week, the letter was great! hope everything went well this week! love everyone! Bye Bye. Love jesus, LOve elder nielson!
P.s. i will update shutterfly, except i dont know the password.

Suprise email from Sister Davis(the one that stop by out house)

This is Brayden's mom again. I received an email Sunday from Sister Tina Davis she is the one who brought the letter and goodies to us! This is what she wrote:

It was so fun meeting you! Here are some pix of your boy. :)
They couldn't decide if they were going to be smiling or serious in the first one; and they "Made the sign" in the second one. I had to ask, as I didn't recognize the sign. It's an O and a T, for "O-Town" or "Oxford Town" ... ... Boys. Haha.
Thanks again for loaning him to the South.

Best Saturday ever....

Hey mom,
Things are going good this week. It was so ridiculously hot this week! the dang sisters have our car so we have been walking alot! We get the car back next Sunday so we are looking forward to that. Saturday was 103 degrees plus humidity! It was so hot. We walked about 7 miles that day as well. So you liked Sis. Davis? They are a sweet couple! They take us to Buffalo Wild Wings, she is hilarious and he is an awkward guy! But he is way cool. I also got some papers that i am sending to you as well with me in there.
Well i am glad everything is going well in the family, i will keep grandpa in my prayers. Well this weekend is probably gonna be the best Saturday ever in missionary work all over the world! So this Saturdays plan goes like this... wake up, get ready, study, then about 10 we are heading to the church to fill up the font... you know why?? Cause we got a baptism! We have a baptism at 1! Krystal. We are the only area in Mississippi that has had a Baptism this whole YEAR. crazy huh. Then after that we will find for an hour, eat at our ward missionaries house, then head to the grove, then to the OLE MISS football game! Talk about a good day Baptism and football. So yeah 2 Baptisms in 2 months in the South, one of the hardest missions in the world according to Pres. Petersen. So yeah good stuff!
Spiritual Message:
So i was reading in "Our search for Happiness" i came across something i really liked. It said something along the lines of if you look at our Eternal life like its a rope that goes both ways off into the infinity, and you take a string and wrap it around once in the middle, the width of that string is our mortal life. Then he switches to Hope. Hope is an interesting thing that i studied for awhile the other night. He says, " we feel pain and anguish in the face of adversity but in Faith in our Heavenly Father and in his plan it can be a source of inner strength through which we can have peace, comfort, and the courage to cope. Hope grows out of faith and gives meaning and purpose to all that we do. It can give us comfort in the face of adversity, strength in times of trial, and peace when there is every reason for doubt and anguish." I also looked in Alma 7: 11-12, 24. Those are some good scriptures for the Plan of Salvation. Then there is the Endure to the End scripture, one of the best ones... 2 Nephi 31:20.
Anyways, i hope things are going well with everyone! Miss everyone! Any one out there that wants to send me a letter, my mail box is always open!!
Love all'ya'all! Love Jesus. ELDER NIELSON

p.s. we took this beer from an investigator, actually Krystal so she wouldn't have the temptation, so we are the only missionaries to have beer in our apartment, and they were full. HAHA
