I am serious when I say .... I love seeing little notes like this show up in my email! It sure makes my day! I LOVE the ward members taking care of Brayden, and we sure LOVE our Missionary that is touching the lives of others.
Dear Parents.
We have been here in Oxford for 43 years. We came from Utah when there was not a branch or ward in Oxford. We were asked to start a Dependent Sunday School and Primary. We held Primary in our home for 10 years. Your have a fine son. He is a very good missionary. Even though he hasn't been out here long he has shown eagerness to learn, is spiritual, knowledgeable, helpful and a joy to know. We have been blessed to have him here. We thought you might like to hear about how he is doing. Brother and Sister Bartlett.
This is a blog of Brayden's LDS mission, hopefully he will take lots of pictures and write lots of letters so we can share his journey with all of our friends and family!

Leading Baptisms in Mississippi by a long shot!
Hey Mommy,
Well this weekend was awesome, we had a Baptism, that makes 2 for this month which is awesome! We are leading Mississippi in baptisms by a long shot. With that baptism we actually broke the record in the Oxford ward for most baptisms in a year, it used to be 5 but now that we got this one we hit 6! and we are hoping for more. The ward here is kinda sucking lately, the members are all in school and they don't help us out much and go teaching with us, and they don't feed us much anymore or help us with rides. It is difficult but we are trying hard. The ward isn't to fond of my new companion, they don't like that he is so serious and stuff
So i ended up getting a North Face jacket, it is grey and it is pretty warm and it is waterproof so thats good cause it has been raining a lot lately. I like it and i think i should be good for now.
Yeah i don't understand why he got rid of the little pickup i thought we would never let that thing go!
Haha yeah that would be funny to have a cut out of me around that house, it would have to be me making a funny face or something though haha. Tell Bubba that he can sit in my seat anytime. Tell Brynlee that i love her very much and miss her, she is so cute.
I bet they are way excited about Halloween. They will get tons of candy. You should have had Camden be me as a missionary! That would have been funny! Maybe next year.
I got the package that you sent! It was awesome, if i didn't know any better i would say that you are trying to fatten me up! I hung up the decorations all over the house! It looks horrible cause our apartment is so ugly!
So the picture is of this awesome dog that i play with at the Humane Society, we volunteer there. He is awesome, his name is Boss and he loves to fetch, we fill up a pool of water and he jumps in and rolls around in it, it is great! Love Boss
So Idaho vandals were down here at Ole Miss playing them on Saturday, all day i was looking at license plates to see if there was anyone from idaho that came to the game but i didn't see any... then i thought, who likes the Idaho Vandals?? haha.
So things are going alright, it has been a rough week with all of our investigators dropping us but we found a couple new ones that seem pretty interested. Elder Clason and i were teaching this one lady named Josie and she would never come to church. I had the thought to go and see her again, so on thursday we went and saw her and i asked if she would come to church with us. She said yes and that she was excited but that she wanted me to call in the morning before church. So i called her and she said, yeah i am coming i will be there, and see you there! Guess what... she never showed up. Of course. That is typical out here. I am not ready to train at all and i am not looking forward to it, cause i still am not sure what i am doing. But i will be ok. Love you Mom very much and i am so grateful for all you do for me and all the packages you send me! I wish i had more time to write you letters back but i am so gosh darn busy all the darn time! sorry. Thanks again. Love Jesus.

"I am a Metho-Baptist"
Mom,
Hey Mom sorry you had the worst week! Yeah so Elder Smith and i are getting a long great, we are working hard and i am learning a lot! Things are going well. We have another Baptism this Saturday for Nichole. We have been teaching her for like a month now and she finally quit smoking and is getting baptized! We are excited.
There isnt many exciting things to do in Oxford either, there is a Good Will (which is like DI) and there is a lot of expensive stores on the square you can go look at. They have $100 ties! crazy stuff. So we pretty much just sleep on p-days and catch up on a little R&R.
Haha That makes me laugh that Bubba wouldn't do his part in the primary program, what a kid!
Wow there is some crazy things going on in the world that i am totally oblivious to, it is kinda nice sometimes! haha
So this week was pretty good we just were looking for some more people to teach since we have baptized all the ones we were teaching. Things get CRAZY here when Ole Miss is playing, literally there is nothing for us to do, everyone is either at the game, at the grove getting drunk, or at home getting Drunk watching the football game. Everyone's lives revolve around Ole Miss, so they dont want us bothering them. The Town gets so packed, i will send some pictures of it.
Story of the week: Yesterday we were knocking doors in this really rich neighborhood, we knocked on this door and a old lady opens the door. She says that she already has the saviors peace and blessing on her home and that she is very religious in her church. I then asked her, what church do you go to? She then said, "I am a Metho-Baptist." She mixed Methodist and Baptist together, she goes to both churches. She says, there is all types of ways to get to heaven, so i am trying 2 of them... haha dang people out here! They are insane in the membrane!
I also am sending a picture of this massive truck i saw on Ole Miss campus. this thing was HUGE it had at least an 8 inch lift, huge monster truck tires and if you look at it the tires are as tall as the car next to it! And the Black guy in the background lets you know how tall it is! Redneck heaven.
Anyways things are going great here, i am trying to learn all i can before i am left with a new missionary. Hope all goes well.
Um idk what i want for christmas, but i do know i need a nice jacket soon.
Love you Mom and everybody! Thanks for all everyone does! Love Jesus

Yeah!! for Pizza and a new companion...
Hey Mom,
Woah i was accepted huh... good thing they have a 98% acceptance rate at BYU-I! haha never thought i would get in. So yeah Elder Clason was transferred out of Oxford, it was sad, we got along very well. But i received my new companion on Wednesday. I think everyone got confused on what i meant by a new missionary. I am not training this transfer, i just got a new companion. My new companion is Elder Smith, he is from Centerville Utah... (who would have thought that Utah pumps out missionaries) He has been out 22 months. That means that i am killing him off this transfer it is his last one! Its crazy. This week President Petersen called me (which is the scariest moment in your life cause you wonder if you are doing something wrong) he said how are you doing, hows your new companion, and stuff like that... then he said well work hard and learn as much as you can cause i want you to train and do the 12 week program with a new missionary... Ahhhhh.... how the crap am i supposed to train when i have been out for 4 months? So if all this actually happens, that will put my in Oxford at least until February, which is crazy! But knowing President, things could change in an instant.
Yeah the pizza was the craziest thing... We were knocking doors in this area and it was almost time for dinner, but we felt we needed to walk down this one more street, so we did that and then we headed home for dinner. We got in the apartment and i started boiling water to make some instant potatoes (i love potatoes, they are easy to make as a missionary that doesn't know how to cook or is too lazy to cook) when all of a sudden we here a knock on the door, we were like what the? usually we are the ones knocking doors... not other people! First thing i thought was, its the Jehovahs Witnesses!! They are coming to get us! But we opened the door and standing there was an Asian guy holding a pizza, a little different than we expected. He said your mom got you this pizza. I stood there and said...What? My mom? ( i was thinking to myself, if you only knew how far my mom is away you'd realize that this doesn't sound right) he said your mom is surprising you with this pizza. I said alright and i took the pizza because who am i to turn down pizza?? Im not insane. We opened it up and laughed about the inside that says from Mom with love and then a heart as well, cause i was laughing thinking how long it took that asian guy to draw that heart on the inside of the box haha. But it was great i loved it! I definately did not know that it has been 100 days, im not counting ;)
Yeah i got the camera, thanks, the other one is broken idk whats up with it. Now i will get some pictures.
No i am not driving, i wish i was cause i hate not being in control! I wanna drive! i wanna win!
Yeah a lot of crazy stuff going on at home.... weird.
Well things are going good, this weekend there was way too many people in Oxford because of the game, the city was jam packed. Just like sardines! We didnt have a very productive weekend cause of that. Well hope everything is good and i miss all of ya'all. Thanks Mom for everything!

I had the best time carrying the Oxford Elders & Sister missionaries to Southaven, TN for their training meeting and exchange/splits. Elder Jones, the zone leader, was Elder Neilson's companion for 24 hours.
We had a lot of fun on our back-to-back mini-road trips, telling stories & jokes. The Elders seemed amazed and entertained as to how the mind of a woman often works. Haha.

The faithful missionaries were fasting that Sunday, so we loaded them up with Tupperware containers full of refreshments from the double 8 yr old Ward baptism (Jacob and Alyssa, in case he's mentioned them or their families).

Transfers . . .
Hey Mom,
So transfer calls were today, this has been the awaited day the whole week! The AP's call between 6:30 -7:30 in the morning. So we were waiting. We had already guessed that Elder Clason has been here to long and that he was leaving and I was staying. The call came at 7:10. Elder Adams our AP calls and says that Elder Clason is leaving and going back to Arkansas. So i am staying in Oxford, I had a feeling i was staying here anyways. I am taking over the area now, getting a new companion and i am only 3 months out, pretty crazy. It came all to fast. So go ahead and send what you want to cause i probably will stay in Oxford for another 3 months i am guessing.
Yeah Nick (9 years old) was baptized on Saturday by yours truly. He received extra blessings because i dunked him 2 times. Elder Clason failed to mention that you have to say, "being commissioned of Jesus Christ" so i had to do it again. But all worked out and he was baptized! It was an awesome experience for my first time.
Conference was good. It was broadcasted to the church in Oxford. Us, the sister missionaries, and the member that drove us there were the only ones that came and watched conference at the church. We watched all 10 hours right in the chapel, it was a long weekend but it was still a vacation from doing missionary work i guess. And that quote from Elder Uchtdorf was one of my favorite quotes, "Doubt your Doubts, before you Doubt your Faith." I also liked Jeffery R. Hollands quote of, "If the bitter cup doesn't pass, Drink It." he is a boss and straight throws down in his talks.
Yeah the Recorder i bought is working great, i have recorded some good stuff! i love it, it also plays music so that is nice.
Everything is going good here! Thanks for the packages and letters that you send me! I am nervous to take over the Oxford area but i am excited as well! Love you all.
Elder Nielson
